About Drawings
The drawings presented are a typographic exploration with a format open to modification. These studies of deconstructed typography embrace America’s appetite for consummation. Although an international phenomenon, the American way of boosting sales, enticing deal hunting and material possession as an absurd equation of personal happiness, fascinated me since my immigration to the United States. The vastly wasteful dimensions of daily advertising bombardments challenges oblivion towards stuff for sale.
Mass produced advertisement leaflets, urging folks to stock up on cheap deals, uses a graphic language unworthy of annual competitions and judging for its success. It is graphic design dressed in its best workhorse robe!
The included typographic studies are inspired by a marketing driven visual language. This is an ongoing project which inquires an unconstrained approach to deconstruct and re-contextualize typography. As of now, confluence of language, meaning, and form are visualized with the media of pen and ink, and color pencil on paper vellum.
